Medical Microneedling/Mesotherapy
During a microneedling session, the upper layers of the skin, more specifically the epidermis and dermis, are perforated in a controlled manner by very fine needles. This is done with a depth of 0.2 to 1 mm, and even deeper depending on the treatment. These targeted micro wounds of the skin prompt the skin to initiate its regenerative processes, resulting in increased collagen production. The treatment can thus improve the texture of the skin and reduce the visibility of pores and fine lines.
Thanks to these micro-channels created within the epidermis and dermis, active ingredients such as vitamin C, hyaluronic acid or botox can penetrate deeper into the skin to develop their beneficial effects, this is called mesotherapy. The treatment will be adjusted according to your skin type by Dr. Gieres.
- Dry skin
- A dull complexion
- Skin damaged by sun exposure
- Fine lines
- Enlarged pores
Treatment begins with a complete disinfection of the skin. The appropriate serum is applied and then introduced into the skin through microneedling, you may feel a tingling sensation during this process. Even several serums can be introduced in one session. Following the treatment, a slight redness may be temporarily visible. Treatment must therefore be planned in relation to professional and private activities.
Make-up should not be applied for 12 hours after the treatment. Constant sun protection should be ensured after the treatment: apply sunscreen (SPF 50) for 4 weeks. Sport should be avoided for 24 hours. Sauna, steam baths or cold rooms are strictly to be avoided for 1 week.
Dr Gieres is happy to answer any further questions regarding the treatment during a private consultation.
Chemical Peel
Chemical peels are an anti-aging procedure that have been established for decades in cosmetic dermatology. Chemical peels are able to dissolve the skin cell associations in different layers depending on the concentration. As a result, the “old” skin peels and is replaced by new, “fresher” skin as part of the wound healing process.
- Coarsened skin structure
- Coarsened pores
- Blemished skin, acne
- Sun damaged skin
- Fine lines
To maximize the results of a chemical peel a pretreatment of 4 weeks with a special night cream can be recommended. Although this pretreatment can lead to slight redness and irritation, it is intentional as it prepares the patient’s skin for the subsequent chemical peel. Although application should be stopped 3-5 days prior to the peel. In addition, sunscreen SPF 50 must be applied consistently 4 weeks before treatment to prevent hyperpigmentation (dark discoloration).
There are superficial, medium and deep peels. Dr Gieres practices superficial and medium peels. These can to be applied about 2-3 times in a row for an optimal outcome.
First of all, the skin is sufficiently cleaned and disinfected. The peel is then applied and left on for about 3-4 minutes. Normally, 2-3 layers are applied to the skin. During the chemical peel, you may experience a slight tingling sensation and/or slight burning sensation on the skin, which will quickly subside after neutralizing the peel. After the treatment, temporary reddening often can appear, scabs are rarely to be expected. In any case, a desquamation phase will happen. This process takes about 1 week and should be planned with regard to professional or private obligations. During the desquamation face a fluid moisturizer comes in very handy.
The follow-up treatment consists of everyday use of sunscreen with a sun protection factor of 50 as well as fluid moisturizer. Sports should be avoided for 24 hours. Sauna and spa should be avoided for 2 weeks. Make up should only be reapplied after 12 hours. Further details will be given by Dr. Gieres.
